I have often wondered about what makes a person happy? I see people who are very well-off, successful and emotionally secure (at least that is how I see them or how they could be perceived by other people). This makes me wonder: Am I on the right path? What should I be doing in my life? Should I try to follow them by walking along the same path that they chose to walk? I used to be too obsessed with what other people have (or possess) and never really payed attention to my own Self and values. I turned against my own Self because what I saw in other people I perceived it as something lacking in me. Then over time (as I got more experienced in life) I realised that I should just think about my Self and create my own happiness in my own way instead of trying to live up to other people's standards and trying to create what other people have created for themselves. After all, this is exactly what would make me an individual.
So I say to everyone out there who has ever doubted themselves:
'Ignorance is Bliss!'
1. Think about your Self and do not let other people's lives influence your own life!2. Do not 'force' yourself to do things just because other people do it as well and it makes them happy!
3.Always do what feels right for you without letting others influence your own feelings and decisions!
This may not be easy for everyone, because whenever we are in a particular situation we tend to think about ourselves in relation to other people and the environment. This can be so overwhelming that we can get easily sucked into it and that is why we can not truly see what we really want or need.
So what does this have to do with The Fool? Well for one thing The Fool is the Individual.Although he still has got a lot to learn but the sooner he thinks as an individual, the sooner he can find his own path and create his own happiness. In other words, The Fool is unique with unique psychological and physical needs who has to be ignorant in order to find happiness.
Yes, well said. The Fool is most certainly the hero choosing his/her own journey and it is a journey in individuation!
ReplyDeleteIndividuation/ individualisation can only come from defining one's own values, how one is different from the tribe, an adventure to transcend limitations, expectations and a need to grow.
